In the series titled ‘Joseph – You Can’t Keep a Godly Man Down,’ Pastor Mike Cavanaugh continues the series with part five named “God Has Made Me Forget.” Cavanaugh teaches out of Genesis 41, the story of Joseph interpreting Pharaoh’s dream. Joseph says ‘it is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer. Through this, we see the humility of Joseph. God will exalt us in due time, as long as we’re humble. But when is the proper time?
Pastor David Serrano preaches on the sovereignty of God. Reading out of Isaiah 46:5-11, Serrano speaks on the importance of the end times, expanding on how all things are under God's rule and control. Nothing happens without his permission, all things happen within His will, and that He has the power and right to govern all things without expectation. The end times can happen anytime. We need to prepare ourselves for the day that He returns to save us.
Pastor Mike Cavanaugh continues to work through the story of Joseph in Genesis. Great plans require great preparation. When God wants to do something big in someone’s life. He doesn’t make it happen overnight. It requires a slow preparation that will help the individual grow but to also live out God’s ultimate purpose for their life at the right time. He does this in Joseph’s life.
Pastor Mike Cavanaugh begins a powerful series titled 'Joseph: You Can't Keep a Godly Man Down.' He expands on the story of Joseph and the favor of his father. Even though Joseph had a favor from his father, he still came from a rough family background. However, through his difficult background, he did make it an excuse to pursue his calling with God. In our own lives, our screwed up family
Pastor Mike Cavanaugh continues the powerful series titled 'Joseph: You Can't Keep a Godly Man Down.' He expands on the story of Joseph in Egypt in authority and the favor of his master. How did the master know that the Lord was with Joseph? He knew this through Joseph’s integrity, attitude, prayer life, and many other traits. Joseph’s integrity was shown when he resisted sexual temptation with Potiphar’s wife. How did he do it? Through all lustful sins, God still loves every man as if there is no one else to love.
Head pastor of Elim Gospel Church, Jared Ruddy, speaks at Elim’s All Elim chapel. Pastor Ruddy expands on the fact that the necessity to fully understand God is to look at Jesus. A problem that is relevant today is that we can construct religious thoughts that are built on the Bible and in doing so still be contrary to Jesus Christ. It’s important to see who God is through the life of Jesus. He also explains that God is a loving, gracious God. God comes to us in the midst of our sin. Because he loves us.
Harry Velacoop is a Elim graduate and Roberts Wesleyan grad. He served in missions for fourteen years in Argentina and Paraguay. He has worked in multiple places since then including serving as dean of administration at Elim. He is currently a pastor in Livonia, NY. He starts by asking the question, what would it be like to know Jesus? He emphasizes the love that Jesus gives us through the intimate relationship with Him. Jesus didn’t meet us halfway. He came and met us fully to where we were at in our own lives.
Toby Cavanaugh closes Missions week with a powerful message on God's calling for our life. We need to be aware of what God is doing in our life so we can understand what direction He is leading us to. We all have a calling for the kingdom, big or small. Many times we tend to be afraid of the work of God and doubt God's protection because it seems so scary. However, when we feel called to preach and minister to the nations, we need to have full trust in the Lord, and he will protect us. All honor and [...]
Kevin Cook emphasizes the importance of having full trust in God. He uses the analogy of riding on a bike with God. Many times, we try to tell God where to ride and where to go. But instead, we need to allow God to lead us where he wants us. All God is asking of us is to sit behind Him and hold on to Him and no one else. He speaks on what it looks like to have complete trust in the Lord for our life.
Tom Brazell speaks on the calling of God in the ministry and having the call for a nation. Not the call for "the nations," but to one nation. There are no shortcuts to getting to where God takes us. We need to be patient and wait to see where God leads us. A big part of prayer is listening. It's so important to listen. Listen to what God is saying and where He wants you to go.
