Bachelor of Science in Theology

Based on the flagship program Elim has used to train leaders for 100 years, the Bachelor of Science in Theology is designed for students who desire to be prepared for ministry. It will enable you to grow in your faith, get equipped with knowledge and understanding of Biblical doctrines and fundamental theological concepts, and help you acquire practical skills to step into your calling as a Christian leader and minister in a multicultural context, impacting both the local church and the world.

You may complete this degree in person or via 100% online!

Students majoring in Theology will:

1. Defend their knowledge of major biblical doctrines and obtain a coherent understanding of fundamental theological concepts.
2. Evaluate the historical setting of the Bible and make application to contemporary culture.
3. Synthesize personal spiritual formation through biblical Christian practices.
4. Practice leadership skills and demonstrate the necessary ability to minister in various cultures.
5. Demonstrate critical thinking skills, reading comprehension, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills, and writing skills that are on par with B.S. levels and national norms.
6. Evidence an undergraduate level of understanding in the fields of humanities and social sciences.

The BS in Theology degree program places the Bible as its primary concentration. Since our inception in 1924, Elim has required students to keep the Word of God as a central part of their instruction. As a theology student, you will graduate with a degree, but even more importantly, a deeper relationship with God, which will serve you wherever you go in ministry and life!

Elim is more than an academic institution. It imparts a heart for ministry and provides students with in-depth practical experience. Students experience hands-on ministry in the local community through their Student Ministry. They also participate in a three-week internship in New York City, providing them intense opportunities to grow and learn in an urban ministry environment.

Elim’s BS degrees are fully accredited and registered by the New York State Board of Regents. Graduates will be prepared to further their college career with a solid degree which will easily transfer into Christian college graduate programs. Students may transfer into a wide range of Master's programs (not just Theology) at other colleges with this degree.

Since Elim is an approved Title IV school, U.S. applicants have the opportunity to apply for federal and state aid. 100% of full-time students receive financial assistance from the government and/or from Elim. Since Elim’s costs are already very reasonably priced, many of our students are surprised when they receive their award notice and realize that they really can afford to pursue their degree at Elim.
