Bachelor of Science in Psychology

The purpose of the Psychology program is to prepare Christ-centered graduates who possess foundational knowledge of psychology, a sound understanding of human behavior, a solid biblical foundation, and the practical skills necessary to serve effectively in helping professions, ministry settings, and related fields.

Students in this program will have the opportunity to develop Christian character, build a strong academic foundation in psychology, and acquire the critical thinking, relational, and analytical skills needed to make a meaningful impact in their communities. The program is designed to prepare students for graduate-level study and related professional development opportunities; however, it does not prepare students for licensure or direct practice in any licensed profession.

Students majoring in Psychology will:

1. Develop a foundational understanding of core psychological concepts and theories through the lens of Biblical worldview, integrating Christian ethics into both psychological practice and research.
2. Gain competence in psychological research methods and experimental design, enabling the critical evaluation, interpretation, and application of research findings.
3. Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills appropriate for academic, professional, and interdisciplinary settings, with the ability to articulate psychological concepts clearly and effectively.
4. Apply critical thinking and evidence-based reasoning to deconstruct complex information, analyze diverse perspectives, and generate practical solutions. 
5. Utilize psychological principles to understand and address contemporary challenges in mental health, family systems, organizational behavior, and social responsibility. 
6. Demonstrate an undergraduate level of comprehension in the fields of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics that are on par with national norms for bachelor’s degree graduates.

As a psychology student, you will graduate with a degree in psychology, but even more importantly, a deeper relationship with God, which will serve you wherever you go in your career and ministry.

Elim’s BS degrees are fully accredited and registered by the New York State Board of Regents. Graduates will be prepared to further their college career with a high-quality degree which will easily transfer into Christian college graduate programs. Students may transfer into a wide range of Master's degree programs at other colleges with this degree.

Since Elim is an approved Title IV school, U.S. applicants have the opportunity to apply for federal and state aid. 100% of full-time students receive financial assistance from the government and/or from Elim. Since Elim’s costs are already very well-priced, many of our students are surprised when they receive their award notice and realize that they really can afford to pursue their degree at Elim.
